Changsha, also named as Star City, is the political, economic and cultural center of Hunan province. Changsha boasts rich cultural heritage and was approved as one of the first batches of Historic and Cultural Cities and National Tourism Cities by the State Council.

Changsha has been awarded as National Garden City, National Greenery City by its unique landscape which integrates the city with mountains, rivers and islands. Changsha has also been granted as the Environment Demonstration Pilot City in China by the United Nations.
